Swimming Drills Keep Practice Fun

Competitive swimming means sprinting laps, but that doesn’t mean your practice needs to be the same. There are fun ways to gain speed and strength without simply racing your teammates.

Here are a few drills you can try with your team:

The Catch-Up: Have team members race with one arm stationary by their side. This drill can also be done by having swimmers push a kick board in front of them.

The Dolphin: Have swimmers drag a kick board under their feet, using only their arms to propel themselves in the water.

The Toddler: Like the dolphin, but this is simply a kick race, with participants pushing the kick board in front of them.

At the end of your season, get swim trophies for the whole team!

Henry will “Never Play for France Again”

After an embarrassing showing in the 2010 World Cup, the French team is attempting to pick up the pieces of their former glory.
Any future wins, though, will happen without star striker Theirry Henry, who said in a press conference that he will never play for France again, even is personally asked by coach and former teammate Laurent Blanc.

Henry is quitting international soccer after over 12 years playing for his country. He holds the record 51 goals in 123 matches. The 32-year-old now plays for the New York Red Bulls.

Juan Diaz Speaks Out About His Upcoming Match Against Marquez

Juan Diaz began his career by going undefeated for his first 33 fights and unifying three lightweight titles. All under the age of 25. Now, only a few years later, many view him as close to washed up. He is 2-3 in his last five fights. He no longer has his belts. He seems to be not what he used to.

He needs to win this match. The “Baby Bull” Diaz is facing the lightweight world champion, who adds that he will do “everything he can” to defend his title.

Diaz spoke out about his upcoming fight with Marques saying that he sees it as a win-win situation, because the fight will show whether or not he still “has it.” And if he doesn’t have it? Diaz is in a situation different from most professional athletes: he is a college graduate who just finished his law school entrance exam. If boxing doesn’t work, a law degree is in his near future.

This fight is a rematch of the one they fought in Houston in 2009. ESPN.com, Ring magazine and the Boxing Writers Association of America all called it the fight of the year.
